Ridgemont High School - March Break Camp
Are you interested in finding a employment opportunity during March Break?
DETAILS:
- You must register with the Youth Job Connection (YJC) Program with the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, Employment Services
- If determined eligible for the program, you will be registered.
- You will need ID, SIN and direct deposit with you for the Intake meeting on FEBRUARY 7TH
- A 20 hour training plan will be provided to you and you are responsible to send your completed training to your employment counselor within the deadline they provide you. You must complete the training on your own time
- Once you’ve completed your training and sent everything in to your employment counselor and verified, they will request a payment be made to you for the training hours you completed up to 20 hrs
- You will need access to a computer/laptop and reliable internet for this opportunity
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Are you between the ages of 15-18? Please note that if you are 15 years old, we will require parental consent to register you into the program and they must sign the documents as well.
- Are you planning on returning to school after March Break?
- Do you have ID with your date of birth?
- Are you eligible to work in Canada (Have a SIN Social Insurance Number)?
- Do you have a Bank account / Direct deposit form?
If you have answered yes to the above questions, then you are eligible.
WHEN:
Melissa and Wendy, Employment Counselors with YJC, will be coming out to Ridgemont High School, ROOM B023 (BASEMENT) on TUESDAY FEBRUARY 7th from 11:35am to 12:30PM to register 10-15 students who are interested in applying for the March Break Program.
For those that require a parents signature, we will be returning a few days later on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10th ROOM B023 (BASEMENT) from 11:35am to 12:30PM to pick up the completed registrations with parent signatures and explain what training is involved with this opportunity.
ABOUT THE TRAINING:
As we will mention on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10TH you must complete the 20 hours of training before you can work. You are paid $15.50 an hour to complete the training. That’s a total of $310 for 20 hours of pre-employment training that you will receive.
Please note you must complete all of your training before starting your March break work placement.
You will have 3 weeks to complete your training.
- Friday February 10th to Friday March 3rd, 2023
Here is when you have to have your training completed & submitted to Wendy or Melissa by:
- Friday March 3rd you will be paid on Friday March 17th, 2023

This team will have more of the specific details regarding the placement duties and responsibilities that you will be doing.
They are looking to fill positions for “Online Virtual Tutoring” during the entire week of March Break starting Monday March 13th 2023 and ending on Friday March 17th 2023.
Please note that you are not paid for any sick time during that week and will be expected to submit an evaluation on what you learned during that time.
You will be paid $15.50 / hour and you will be working 4 hours shifts x 5 days for a total of 20 hours of work.
