Krackers is a social enterprise that was created to achieve both social and economic impacts. Krackers is staffed by a team of individuals who have experienced barriers to employment, including those who have mental illness, disability and other challenges. Since 1999, Krackers has grown into a successful social enterprise where over 150 people have gained invaluable training and work experience enabling them to transition to other employment opportunities within the community.

About the Role Krackers (Catering) is looking for reliable and dedicated participant-kitchen staff to join our team. As part of our social enterprise, this position offers you the opportunity to contribute to the team, gain employment experience, and learn new skills that you can apply to future employment opportunities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hardworking, and committed to providing high-quality catering services. This position will report to the Kitchen Supervisor and Operational Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients for catering orders, including chopping, slicing, and portioning food items according to specifications.

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for catering events, ensuring food quality, portion size, and presentation meet company standards.

• Manage and operate the snack bar, including preparing and serving food to customers, handling cash or processing payments, and maintaining inventory levels.

• Prepare and bake a variety of items, including pastries, desserts, and snacks, ensuring freshness and quality.

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations.

• Work closely with other kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth kitchen operations and efficient order fulfillment.

• Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor or kitchen manager, including food plating, packaging for delivery, and any special prep for catering events.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time.

• Strong attention to detail with an eye for quality food preparation and presentation.

• A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team.

• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings, depending on catering schedules.
• Experience working within a kitchen environment, catering or food industry considered an asset.
• Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Punctual, reliable and detail-oriented with strong work ethic.
