The Fourth Annual Financial Literacy Event:

• How to Manage Your Money
• More than ever, your future depends on financial literacy.

Various economic studies indicate that many African descent communities are lagging in financial literacy compared to their White counterparts. The result of the economic disparity is due to Black people’s constant run-ins with anti-Black racism. Race-based discrimination is rampant in many financial institutions, which complicates how Black people receive services. The unpleasant service takes away from Black people’s ability to increase their literacy on finances.

Due to the Covid-19, this year, ACMP and the Royal Bank of Canada will be holding a FREE in-person event (limited capacity) while simultaneously streaming an interactive Financial Literacy webinar via Zoom to accommodate a broader audience.

Although this is event is being held at the universities, this event is open to the public, students from high school and secondary school are welcome and we will be joined by youth from the Ottawa Children’s Aid Society. The “How to Manage Your Money” event is suited for all individuals of different races/ethnicities, genders or social classes. Anyone from people with limited financial knowledge to those who understand financial concepts can all benefit from this FREE event.
